Walking the Walk

"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise" (Ephesians 5:15.) Here Paul reminds us that as we walk the Christian walk we need to be careful. Being a Christian is more than just a label for us. It is a way of life that drills down to the very depths of our heart. But in going through this life care must be exercised lest we let worldly things get in the way.

Desire to be a Christian is not enough to get us to heaven. There has to be the desire to make application of New Testament teaching in our lives. It has often been said that the church is full of good people but a good person does not necessarily make a good member. A local congregation is a team of Christians agreeing to work as one under the authority of Jesus Christ. Obviously, Christians can and will be at various stages of their spiritual growth and patience is required on the part of all with that. But there should be an obvious moving forward in making the spiritual walk before God. We should not appear to be standing still.

At Camden Avenue, there are so many good things happening. Over the last 4 years, I have seen personal growth in myself, and in many mambers here. However, that growth has not been so evident in others but we can do better.

Repeatedly, the call has gone out for elders and there are some men among us that could answer that call but none have as yet. We cannot be what God wants us to be without them. We hear the prayers of many to the effect of "GOd, help us in our efforts to grow" but then we have some who withhold their support from the church by not attending all the services. Do we want God to help us grow without doing our part to support the assembly of the saints? We need to back up or desires with action.
